Imagine : Your Way to Success
by Gary Vurnum
Let's play a little game.
Don't think of an orange.
See. You did, didn't you!
You couldn't help yourself. With this (rather pathetic, I know) experiment, I have just shown why 97% of the population stay where they are...just treading water.
They focus their thinking on what they don't want...rather than what they DO want.
They do this...because they can't help themselves.
'Society' frowns upon success (especially here in the UK !). What Society REALLY frowns upon is too much money...and unfortunately, success just happens to be dragged down with it.
So, most of us are brought up with failure, or lack, in the forefront of our minds.
"You can't be an astronaut"
"You can't afford it"
"You're too big"
"You're too small"
"You'll never get that promotion"
We hear these statements so often (mostly from those who think that they have our best interests at heart)...that we turn the 'You' into 'I'...and go about our daily lives accordingly.
The 'never' and 'can't' become more attractive to our brains than the things we really want.
So we go out into the big wide world with our own worst enemy - that little voice inside our heads – constantly holding us back.
Until now.
You see that now you know what you are doing, you are going to change it - right?
Of course you are - NOT!
So I will have to get you REALLY interested in what you want and where you want to be.
For that, we need to imagine...
The best teachers for this are all around us - kids! Children have an amazing imagination...they literally see in front of them what they are imagining.
So how can we use this in real life?
Well...just imagine your future
...imagine your success
...imagine your happiness
...imagine reaching your goals
...imagine living your dream
...imagine driving that car, or living in that house
Just before you go to sleep every night...imagine what it FEELS like to have everything you want.
Imagine that you have what you really want.
Thinking won't get you excited about your future...but imagining will automatically add that emotional 'edge' to what you have in your mind.
You see, in order to imagine yourself doing something – you must see, and feel yourself doing it. It takes some concentration, but it's well worth the effort.
Try it every night for a month.
Close your eyes and imagine the future you always dreamt about.
You may be surprised how much your imagination can help you make it come true.
