How to Design Yourself a Daily Affirmation ... part two
In the last part, we discussed the basics of affirmations and how to write them so they are positive and in the present. In this part, you’ll learn more about the nature of affirmations and how to use them properly.
How do Affirmations work?
Affirmations are based on the knowledge that we create the experiences and conditions around us through our thoughts and feelings. These thought and feeling patterns are a product of our past programming.
For example, a woman is continually unlucky in love. She attracts a string of bad relationships, no matter how hard she tries. After some self-analysis she realizes that her mom, who was divorced, constantly told her growing up that “men are scum.” After hearing that time and time again, she internalized the message. As an adult woman, every man she brings into her life becomes “scum.”
Repetition is the basis for our programming. Consistent repetition of audio, visual and emotional messages have a long-term impact on our lives. Our subconscious minds internalize these messages, accept them as truth and help to attract them into our existence.
Affirmations are one of many tools that are used to “reprogram” the subconscious mind. By using positive statements, phrased in present tense, on a consistent basis, you’ll be internalizing new messages about love, money, health and a whole host of other topics.
Tips for Your Affirmations
Knowing the nature of affirmations will help you create better affirmations. Remember that these messages will be internalized by your subconscious mind. They will become the magnets to attract change into your life.
With that in mind, reread any affirmations you’ve written or considered. Is this exactly what you want to attract? Have you dreamed big or played it safe? Affirmations represent your ideal life. Make sure they reflect all that you want to be, do and have. Don’t hold back. Write down what you really want to have.
Your affirmations should be reviewed often. Don’t keep using the same set of affirmations for a long period of time unless you feel they are working. Evaluate your progress, and only keep the affirmations that you are passionate about.
Keeping these tips in mind will make your affirmations practice more fulfilling and useful.
